our Programs

Camp Broaderway

Camp BroaderWay is a sleep-away program where our girls experience traditional camp activities including swimming, rock climbing, and campfires, in addition to stage, dance, and voice fundamentals. They have an exciting choice of electives to help them discover where their interests might lie, e.g. painting, sign language, storyboard, spoken word, acting, choreography, photography, Playbill, digital scrapbook and sculpting.
All Camp BroaderWay classes are taught by acclaimed Broadway professionals and Simon’s Rock faculty members, who are experts in their fields. Well-trained counselors and group leaders assist the girls in their activities and socialization.
In 2013, Camp BroaderWay moved to Bard College at Simon’s Rock – a place we are happy to call home. The facilities here provide us with the ability to offer a wide variety of programming, and give the campers the opportunity to seek out and explore new avenues.
Since the inception of Camp BroaderWay, we have doubled the number of girls we serve. The new campers have been embraced and welcomed by the older girls who have adopted the role of big sisters

Camp culminates with an original performance for the campers’ families and friends in NYC. It is a collaborative effort between campers and staff and showcases the girls’ personal poems, choreography, essays, and acting scenes.

School Year Programming

New York Theater

ABW is dedicated to providing special experiences to its participants, which include trips to Broadway shows and other New York theatrical performances. For the first time, our graduates experienced the thrill of seeing Idina perform in her Broadway show If/Then, while our current campers delighted in a performance of Wicked. At each of the performances, the girls had the opportunity to meet cast members for a talkback. Producer, David Stone also spoke with our campers following the performance of Wicked.

Art Event with Neuberger Berman

Every spring, Neuberger Berman sponsors a collaborative Art Event with ABW. The girls tour Neuberger Berman’s art collection of diverse emerging artists and participate in a discussion of self-expression through the arts. Each girl has the opportunity to partner with a Neuberger Berman employee and work on her own art project.

Annual Reunion

Each year, Camp BroaderWay campers and staff reunite to catch up and reminisce on the past summer’s experiences. This year, thanks to our friends at Class Act Sports Foundation, they had a wonderful time at Bowlmor Lanes Times Square.

Dance Classes

ABW campers were graciously hosted at Shuffles Tap & Musical Theater School for a musical theater dance class. Creative Team members and ABW dance teachers, Darren and Torya, taught a full-camp dance class hosted at The Ailey Studios. Members of the Youth Engagement Committee joined in on the fun.

Graduate Programming

ABW Graduates, former campers who have graduated out of the 4-year camper program, have their own school year programming which includes participation in financial literacy courses taught by PricewaterhouseCoopers professionals as part of their Earn Your Future Initiative.
